Ice is Nice...But Less May be Better

In the course of experimenting (as we all do), I discovered the following:

Rather than using an ice pack this evening when the pain began to present, I wrapped ONE ice cube in a paper towel with 1/2 of the cube exposed, rather than using an ice pack or a towel with ice in it for general application.

I then took the exposed part of the cube and began to move it to different locations...temple, eyebrow, neck, etc.

The locations which provided the most relief (on the CH side, of course) were:

1. on the surface of the ear,
2. on the inner surface of the ear, and
3. behind the ear (touching both the side of the skull and the back of the ear simultaneously.

Additionally, for those of us who have had our heads in the freezer before, I also had some significant nasal passage relief by simply placing my left index finger over my left nostril and partially blocking my right nostril (my CH side) with the ice cube and breathing the cold air from its' surface.

Relief was gradual but with some relaxation, I was back to normal (whatever that is) in about 20 minutes.

Two other observations...DON'T apply pressure with the ice cube (unless that feels good, which in my case caused an increase of the pain). Rather, just 'tickle' the surface of the skin involved...let the cold do the work. And, secondly, move the ice around, gradually, don't leave it in one place for long.

I hope this simple method proves to be a useful remedy for one or more out there.

Later...

M
