As I'm in remission at the moment I can afford to lie in bed before sleeping and have time to ponder life instead of worrying what time I'm going to wake up howling. Anyway, last night I was musing on my life. I spent my early childhood in London during WWII, enduring the nightly bombing, then the V1s and the V2s. Our house was hit on my 4th birthday. 'Happy birthday, Bill,' said Adolph. 'Here's a gift from Nazi Germany'. But if God said to me 'Here's your choice. You can be bombed for the rest of your life or suffer clusters for the rest of your life. What's it to be?' I wouldn't hesitate: I'd take the bombing every time.
