The 'oldtimers' here mostly know that Elaine has been battling cancer recently. Being the selfless person she is, she wouldn't say anything because she prefers to worry about us rather than have us worry about her.
Elaine won't be on the board for the next few days because she's going in for surgery tomorrow morning. She requires two operations and they will be done back to back. All surgery has risk associated, and the first operation she needs has a higher risk than any of us would like. But Elaine is also a very strong and brave woman.
We have had our debates, misunderstandings and disagreements about the place for religious beliefs here at ch.com and we certainly don't need to go there again. Elaine is a Christian, and has a deep faith in her Lord. Please send her your prayers (if prayer is within your belief system) or your best wishes for a quick recovery.
We love you, Elaine! Hurry up and get well. We will all be thinking of you tomorrow. The least you could have done was arrange for the operation to be webcast live. :-)
