I feel like I'm preaching sometimes on here and I don't want to do that but since you asked for non-prescription remedies, here's what we've had success with for my husband.
1. The Water Treatment (read the Water x 3 button on the left of this page)
2. Oxygen (we can't get a script for it, and he uses welders' oxygen, carefully)
3. Dramamine/Gravol - 2 or 3 before bed has helped get him through the night without an attack.
4. Ice - we use those gel-filled ice packs wrapped in a tea towel - he puts them on the back of his neck and later directly on the pain.
He has tried a lot of meds with no success or has quickly built up an immunity to them, so he is totally med free now. We feel this could be why the water treatment worked so quickly for him to break and end his last cycle, 14 months ago. He is still in remission today.
