Interesting. I quit for 6 months and the frequency and intensity lessened. But I was chewing the nicotine gum the whole time. So I still got my fix. Just not all the other crap in it. However, my lifestyle was much cleaner in many ways at that point. But I did notice a change soon after quitting smoking, which happened 1-2 months after eating right, meditating regularly and washing behind my ears.
