Hi, Michelle. One reason your doctor would not allow
that combination could be because of medical history.
With Amerge you shouldn't have a history of high blood
pressure or cholesterol, you should not have heart problems,
can't be pregnant or trying to get pregnant, obesity,
diabetes, smoking or strong family history of heart
disease, postmenopausal, kidney or liver disease....
so that could be the reason. If you do not have any of
these problems, you should insist for your doctor to
prescribe this med. Also there is Amerge 1mg which is
not as strong as Amerge 2.5mg. I went to a neurologist
who specializes in headaches. Also since taking Amerge 2.5
I have not had to use the imitrex injection, that is just
how well it is working. Hope this helped. Good Luck
