Many drugs out there are used for a variety of ailments and symptoms. Sometimes drugs have multiple effects. For example, most people recognize morphine as a pain killer (especially in terminal patients) that if given in high doses supress the respitory system. However, small doses if given to a patient in pain and respitory distress actually helps patients breath more effectively. Antidepressents are being used for weight loss and smoking cessation. Anyways, ritalin is primariy used for ADD but is now also being prescribed for depression in the elderly. Keep your fingers crossed, maybe next it will be proved to abort the beast.
