I have had severe facial pain now for 15+ months. I thought at first it was a tooth, which the dentist filled, this did not help, so they did a emergency root canal, again, no relief, so I went for another root canal, and they found they missed a canal, again no relief, and yes a 3rd time the redid this root canal, as still no relief. I then went to my family dr. who put me on prednisone, and long and behold this would knock the pain out within 15 minutes. Of course when I ran out of this med, the pain was back in full force. So the family doctor sent me to see a specialist (neurosurgeon, who did not appreciate me "wasting" her time)but thought I may have TN, which sounds NOTHING like what I am experiencing, but did a MRI and said everything was normal( and gave me NO suggestions and said over the phone there was no need to come back). So I went this past thursday and had the tooth pulled! Now at night, I am in even MORE pain if that is possible. I went back to the dentist today (yes it is sunday and he met me at the office) and thought perhaps I had a dry socket, and treated it as such OUCH!!!!!! Now I am back in the same place I was 15 months ago. Now what? ENT? Neurologist?
This pain hits about 2 hrs after falling asleep, and has only happened 2 or 3 times during the day unless I have taken a nap longer than 1 1/2 hrs.
