I find your ideas with the damage to the myelin sheath very interesting. Several years back (about 10) I was pre-diagnosed with having the early stages of MS by a well meaningfull radiologist reading from the results of a MRI brain scan. At that time there was beleif that an early diagnose was found for MS patients due to "unspecified white imigaes" found with the myelin sheath from MRI scans. After receiving this report I immediatly scheduled an appointment with the world famous Mellon Center (MS Clinic) at the Cleveland Clinic (Ohio, USA). As if the terrible headaches weren't enough, now I had concern with this problem also. I also had an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic with a Dr. specializing with the Headache Clinic for the same day.
To shorten this up some as it turned out that the morning before my appointments the Dr's were in an educational conference which specifically dispelled the beliefs with the diagnose of MS from MRI scans of the myelin sheath stating that for some unknow reason headache patients also showed the same damage to the myelin sheath. Happy to realize that I didn't have MS, but sad that I don't know if this was ever followed up on for Cluster patients and like I said that was 10 years ago.
Also I find it interesting that some studies with MS are thinking that it also could be caused virally. Could there be some simularity here also with damage to the myelin sheath with this disease. Maybe there is somethings in common here?
