I am absloutely positive that alcohol and sleep, (REM sleep) are triggers for me. When I say "triggers" I mean that these items trigger a Cluster attack. I rarely have experienced Cluster attacks after eating a meal. Therefore, MSG is NOT a trigger for me.
Alcohol, which I avoid now, has triggered attacks in the past. Beer would trigger attacks 90% of the time when consumed by me. Clear liquors, such as Vodka, Rum and Gin would trigger attacks 70% of the time when consumed by me. I've never enjoyed sipping wine. (No experience with wine). Colored liquors such as Whiskey and Scotch would trigger attacks 80% of the time when consumed by me. I have never been a "heavy" alcohol consumer. I'm 36 years old now. This was my experience when I did consume alcohol on ocassion in my early 20's. I now avoid alcohol.
Sleep is a trigger 50% of the time. I sleep every night. I have no difficulty falling asleep. If I fall into a deep sleep, (REM), chances are 50/50 that I will be awakened by a Cluster attack. I find it very difficult to avoid sleeping. I do hope to some day die in my sleep though. YA-HOO !!!
