Cassandra:
Who told your mom the only way she could get
oxygen was if she had a respiratory problem? Bull.
The way you get oxygen is to have a doctor prescribe
it. A cluster headache diagnosis is a perfectly
viable one for oxygen. You take the prescription
to a medical supply place that carries oxygen tanks and
face masks. Be sure you can easily read the liter
flow at 6 to 8 liters. You inhale the oxygen for
up to 15 minutes. Oxygen can be one of the most
effective ways to abort a headache. I use a portable
tank on a dolly, but you can also get a huge
tank with a bigger capacity.
By the way, I tried acupuncture, and it did not work
for me. But I say, try everything. At least
acupuncture does not have harmful side effects.
I think it's great of you to be so supportive to
your mom. But...if she doesn't want to be helped,
what can you do? You have a bit of a role reversal
going on here. Maybe you could tell her that
you're there and would like to help her, but will
wait until she comes to you for help (I know, I
know, not easy).
Good luck,
Jackie
