Subjects are subjects. Categories are Categories. They are not the same thing.
At this point, I don't really care whether CH posts have categories or not. It's really not very important in the overall scheme of things.
Category fields, unlike subject fields, are meant to allow one to group subjects by category. Sort of like an index. It's hard to create meaningful categorizations from subject lines without destroing the value of what the subject line was intended for in the first place: subjects.
Since they are both typically text fields, they are often confused with one another. Hope this expaination helps.
