A lot of things have changed in the past 2 years. I agree with the others, that you should definitely try using Imitrex for the acute attacks. Prednisone is excellent at breaking a new cluster...sometimes. It is worth a try, even if it makes the walls talk to you (often associated with nightmares). Lithium does take a while to work...and I would suggest that AFTER a prednisone trial.
It is horrible having a cluster again after 2 years. Just reminds you that it isn't over... But if you hit it hard, maybe, just maybe, you can slip quickly back into another 2 years of peace.
Don't give up.
