Sam,
I am a left-sided periodic CHead. 5+ years of twice a year 2-3 month stretches of almost daily CHs. They run in 1 to 3 hits a day. From 20 min. to 1 hour depending on how quick I took the meds...if I had O2 available...and who knows why else...
Oftimes if I take it at the first "smell" I can abort it completely. My precurser is a wierd metalic almost more of a temperature difference in my left nostril. The ones that wake me shortly after falling asleep really kick my ass though because they are too far advanced by the time I wake. I take the Midrin...duradrin...3 times what is perscribed as a usual dose and dance the dance. Hot poker in the eye...every tooth on the left side feels lke a dry socket...left forehead, temple and top of head about to explode....pacing...headbanging...begging for relief. Then it subsides ...and vanishes...leaving me panting and staring...wondering if anyone got the licence # of that train.
I hope that's "cluster" enough for the site police. Sorry, but it pissed me off when DJ inferred that if you rely on Midrin you probably don't have clusters. I do and I do.
OK so they don't work for him but he is not the benchmark for CH. He just runs this site....and I've told him how grateful I am that he does.
I suspect I might but pray to God I won't get worse and have to employ the intense medications that a lot of other people on this site have to take. I'm in remission now and have a list of things to try during the next cycle....water,water,water...cold O2...ginger ale and grape juice...etc...etc...all of which I found on this site.
