Anne,
This is exactly the type of experience I was fishing for. I recall stories of old-time CH'ers who used to use belts around their heads to treat the pain. I was surprised to hear that you used the method as a preventative technique rather than as an abortive technique.
However, I'm somewhat confused as to the Ace bandage and how it serves to block the effects of the Butterfly farts (BFF). See, my hypothesis on this is progressing along the line that the Butterfly fart sets up a very low frequency (VLF) or ultra-low frequency (ULF) energy wave. The CH brain is capable of receiving this radio-transmission while in a cluster-prone chemical/electrical state. That alone is not enough to cause a CH. The BFF VLF/ULF wave is only the carrier wave on which a separate (perhaps higher frequency) waveform is hidden. Wave forms carried on wave forms are natural, just look at the ocean swells with wind-blown waves on top.
When the composite BFF wave form combines with the properly tuned CH-brain a harmonic distortion effect, much like microphone feedback, is experienced. REM sleep is one of the factors which sets-up a CH-brain, which explains some of the wake-up call attacks.
To tie this into real science, National Public Radio (NPR) last week aired a segment in which geophysists on several continents (US and Japan) detected here-to-fore unresearched low-level seismic anomolies. These wave forms have been there all along, but were ignored as instrumentation errors. Their theory is that these wave forms are from the movement of the weight of the oceans moving around the thin-part of the oceans. These appear to be seasonal, changing every six months or so.
So, what if these low-frequency seismic waves, combined with BFF waves are the real cause of CH? My question to the group is this: Does hairspray affect the reception of BFF waves?
