I've had CH for about 18 years (I'm 38 now). Along the road I've seen numerous neurologists - some good, most had no clue. One doc (who ultimately turned out to be fairly good) ran me through a several month long bio-feeback training session. The idea was to learn how to eliminate stress in cranial muscles. Believe me, we have stress in areas we wouldn't imagine. I suppose this form of "treatment" might be considered similar to self-hypnosis.
That was about 13 years ago (well before Imitrex). I found that if I could isolate myself in a quiet room and concentrate on the relaxation, I could avert maybe one in five headaches. Not very satisfactory relative to the results I now have with Imitrex and Oxygen, but better than nothing. If I wasn't able to start the relaxation process quickly, I found it very difficult to have any success at all.
After reading many postings at this sight, it seems to me that different things work for differenct CH suffers. It's worth a try if you're confident you're not being scammed.
I've had more luck with some of the tips on this sight (such as hot showers) than I did with bio-feedback though.
Good luck....
