Yes, my boyfriend Dave got on regular Social Security disablilty, not the SSI and it took him 5 months to get approved in connecticut. That was 5 long months of no pay at all coming in since he quit his job and applied for it. That was with calling the Social Security office at least every 2-3 days a week trying to push it ahead. Someone told him a long time ago he couln't get it because he was already getting a miltary retirement and found out accidently when he went to Social Security office for me for something and asked the lady there is this was true. She said no he could apply and all his good medical documents for years he had, he would be approved quickly. Ha Ha! Not unless 5 months long is quick to them. Also the lady said he would get 3 months of retroactive payments if approved, which then was told to him by another lady that the first lady gave him wrong info. He never got any retroactive payments only regular month to month payments. Just like the Navy VA in CT alot of red tape to go through.
