If you're lucky enough to have health insurance, some of the providers are changing their output for what can only be described as the nuclear waste left to a person who is long suffering. The Berkeley Health Letter is where I found this out and I tested it here in Portland. There are both emotional and physical problems attributed to the ongoing affects of chronic pain. One that happened to me is atrophy. A year ago I was riding waves in storm water oceans in a kayak. Now I am loathe to go for a walk. I am lucky to be insured. My doctor is my advocate and demanded of my provider that Physical Therapy be a preventative measure for my future. The process is gruling for me, for I have the patience of a pit viper and demand of myself what I would only have long loving patience for someone else. It does, however, take up my time and time is out of the house where there are people, who if not close friends, at least helpful, sympathetic people. Had I not read the article, I would be sitting back doing nothing. If anyone wants a copy of the article, please email me at jstevan@hotmail.com and I will be happy to send you one. It was the strongest weapon I used and was met with a change of attitude by the health community. It's yours for the asking.
