The dread of not knowing when the next attack will come
can be as debilitating, if not more so, than the attack itself.
Sandra, it was not clear to me whether your husband was chronic or
episodic. Either way, depression can easily go along with clusters,
and perhaps you could speak to him about seeing a therapist and
investigating anti-depressant medications for help in dealing with
the emotional difficulties of a cluster life.
I currently see a therapist for my fear of sleep.
Guess it's just more of the differences in clusters that your
husband should find escape in his sleep, while I go for days not being
able to sleep for fear of waking with a cluster. Completely opposite
in our reactions to the same cluster monster.
My heart goes out to your children, who are too young to understand
their father's illness, but are old enough to understand that he is in agony.
Not being a mother, I can not offer any advice... only offer you hopes that you can
find a way to help them understand.
good luck and strength to you who suffer from the cluster monster's agony just
as your husband does,
karen
