From far away though (Boston, Ma) so the Dr. part of it I can't do BUT my suggestion would be this...
1) Make a list of questions you have for the Dr. you finally do see.
2) Print some (a lot) of the information you'll see throughout this website & bring it with you to your appointment. (medical info on the left side of the page is a good place to start).
3) If you ever see a Dr. that doesn't seem to understand, GET ANOTHER asap. No sense wasting time going toe to toe with the Beast.
