They are now using what is called Gamma Knife for clusters. It's not really a knife but radiation to destroy part of the nerve. It's showing good promise for clusters. I'm hoping to get the doctor to come to the convention and speak. They have already given OUCH a donation of money. They are interested in helping us.
Gamma Knife has been used on tumors of the brain for many many yrs and they have been using it for Trigemianl Neuralgia (facial nerve pain) with very good results.
They have been doing studies with Gamma Knife for clusters for a few yrs with good results. I gave DJ the info they sent me on studies using Gamma Knife for clusters.
The doctor I know is looking for more cluster patients, but it's very expensive to have done. I'm atypical presentation of clusters so they don't want to try it on me. In no way am I connected with them...this is not an ad.
You can have it done and go home the same day with little or no side effects.
