First off, I partake of the spirits, but ONLY while in remission between cycles. It doesn't seem to start a cycle, but triggers a guaranteed minimum 8 during cycle.
While visiting with some fellow CH'rs a while back, one of the chronics did an experiment, of sorts. He KNEW he would get hit later in the evening and didn't want to ruin the night. So, he drank a beer (maybe 2) for the express purpose of causing the attack. NOTE--- he KNEW an attack was imminent, and merely used the booze to control the TIMING. It worked, but as I recall, he isn't too willing to try that approach again.
