Didn't think the particulars mattered but here goes: the dentist at the VA was removing my wisdom teeth. He placed his fingers on the jaw joints on both side of my head and told me to open/close my mouth. After I did this he said to me, "You get a lot of headches don't you?" This dentist did nothing about the jaw. During a visit to a private dentist sometime after the VA one, I mentioned what the VA dentist had said. This dentist said he didn't know if it would help but he could grind my teeth in the appropriate places to realign my bite.
It's my assumption the first dentist was talking about TMJ.
