Because of the expense involved with Imitrex, almost all HMOs have placed a limit on the number of Imitrex that can be given in a month. This is basically because some people were actually selling the stuff to friends.
Your doctor can call the insurance company and override this....I do it all the time. They just want to make sure that you really need that much Imitrex (remember, most people taking Imitrex are not taking it for clusters, and don't require it as frequently). Almost all med insurance will allow up to 1 per day, sometimes more, but often 1 per day will cause you to hit their cap.
