Lithium is a powerfully helpful medication for some folks--and only a trial will tell.
For your immediate information: the side effects can be very serious; follow faithfully the schedule of blood tests which your doc outlines; be quick to report any changes in your body during the first several weeks until you/doc find out whether you have any special sensitivities to lithium.
Dosing is generally in the 300 to 600 mg range. DO NOT play with the dose on your own. This is not a benign medication!
Not trying to scare you away from using: just be very aware that lithium must be used with high level care and attention.
