Ahhh my savior drug and then it turned ugly and became my torturer. What ever you do DO NOT take it more than 2-3 times a week! Initially they were like a miracle drug for me, taking a 6 on the Kip scale down to shadows. Then I had shadows everyday and had no idea when/if my cycle had ended because I was dealing with rebound HA's. They felt like shadows in the early part of the day and would build into HORRIFIC pain that mimiced an upper scale cluster at times by the end of the day. (That or it was a cluster with the rebound, I have no idea at this point!) Rebound Headaches do build throughout the day and the only way out of it is to detox your body. When I did this I thought I was crazy. I had cold sweats, hot flashes, nausea, jitters, manic behavior and what I call minor siezures where my body would shake uncontrollably for a few seconds.

I have discussed my personal experience to the fullest extent with NO ONE before this because I KNEW rebound headaches could be a possibility. Unfortunately, I thought I was doing the right thing because I REPEATEDLY asked doctors if this was ok and how I should handle taking excedrin. I was encouraged to continue taking them on a regular basis and to taper down and off for a few days to give my body a rest. This was the lie that put me in hell because it was not enough time off from them. I asked a doctor to recommend a nonpainkiller drug to help me sleep while detoxing and was told to take cold medicines. The problem is that DETOX means NO pain killers and cold meds have them in them. My doctor was essentially telling me that she has NO idea what a rebound headache is. Please be aware of this before you take the miracle drug too often!
