Well after 8+ months straight of dealing with these CH's, I think I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!!
On Monday I went to a new Neuro...3rd one this year! While in his waiting room, I see a framed magazine article...Rhode Island Top Docs! Yes...he was listed as #1 of the top Neuro's in the state!! He is openning a HA clinic here, physical therapist, massage therapist...the whole works.
Well anyway they spent 2 1/2 hours with me taking a history and discussing treatment options. He really was the Dr I have been waiting for. He actually treats other people with clusters...(guess I'm not the only one in my small state!) and REALLY knows and treats these HA's.
I have had a CH every day since January of this year...and he said to me "We will break this cycle!" I know that may not happen...but it is so nice to have some hope!
I am still on Verapamil and now taking Amerge 2X daily for 10 days and also as needed for pain. 02 if needed.
I was charged $25 for 9 Amerge tablets. I usually pay $10 for meds and called my HMO and the Dr's office. Yes, the DR's office called and took care of everything for me...I will still pay the $25 put it will be for the whole prescription...not just 9.
So yes...here I am very happy and relieved and all of you might be saying...good for you ...wish it was me. I am posting this because for 8 months I have been trying and trying and now it is finally happening! I went through 2 bad Dr's and many bad meds before getting here (mind you i still have the CH's) but now I feel like I am getting the treatment I deserve...we all deserve.
I will let you know how i make out on the Amerge...but so far so good!
