I can't believe it!!! I was always afraid to say that for quite a while Patty's pain was also constant (usually a 3 or so) with the spikes to 10 at different times. So many had said that was not a cluster. IT IS!!!! The time of the spikes are what makes the cluster, not the residual pain.
Have you tried the Elavil (amitriptyline)? Patty is taking that twice a day (75mg) and it really has helped. She's VERY drug resistant, so you may not need that much, and you need to start with one a day until you get used to it.
For sleep, they gave her Restoril, and that helped. A 9-10 would still wake her up, but it helped her get rest when it wasn't a pacer. Kept her strength up.
Besides those, we haven't yet, but may be trying the Topamax. Hopefully it's the new thing to help.
Hope you get better soon, and sorry I was glad to see someone else have the same symtoms as Patty.
