Michelle,
I am the one that injects my wife and I've found the new small
make up case type injector to be poorly designed vs the older larger
injection kit, as it places too much downward pressure on thigh/arm
and seems to make the needle go in deeper.
With the old injector, one would simply lift the safety and gently
press the injector button on a horizontal plane and the injector would push the
Imitrex downward, whereas the new injector has the safety built in to
injector. It requires the giver to push down to prompt the safety on the thigh/arm
and then push down on the button as well to inject the Imitrex, all verticle pressure
(from a design standpoint) and a little more painful.
In this layman opinion, Glaxco designed the new injector more for cosmetic
reasons than paitient comfort. A case of giving design engineers way to much latitude
and not asking a CH sufferer or injector what works best. Ouch!!
