Hey folks,
Just wanted to update you on my progress with the Topiramate or Topamax study I've been undertaking. I've been on the 50 mg level for about two weeks now and in that time have only experienced two minor clusters. I'm am on a very low dose of the drug but Dr. Klapper wanted to see how this went at 50 mg since it seemed to be doing the trick. I'v got to admit, I feel pretty damn good. By all counts, I should still be right smack in the middle of a cluster cycle, getting them almost every day. I still feel like I'm in a cycle, you know what I mean, you just feel different, out of whack, but no headaches. The side effects have been next to none minus a little trouble finding words. I generally have a pretty large vocabulary but can't seem to find the words to describe what I'm trying to say. I still have a way to go on the study so I'll keep you all posted. By the studies I've read given to me by Dr. Klapper, this drug seems to be just as effective with chronic as well as episodic but don't take my word for it. If you want more info, read my earlier post this week about topiramate and contact the participating neurologists. I believe some other folks on this board are about to begin topiramate to see if it helps their clusters as well so I'm sure we'll be getting more input in the next several weeks. Amanda, Dave, best of luck. My prayers are with you, and with you all.
