As an x harcore drinker that almost led to death, these facts need to be revealed and this phenomena, drinking/smoking among CH suffers and other commonalities WILL have to be accepted.
Concerning alcohol, many of your stats are accurate except the percentage of the Us citizen that have an addiction problem. Alcoholism is an addiction and statistics can very from among large scale studies. But my knowledge of addiction/alcoholism is limited to my own opinion that holds favor among docs and AA members and studies done in effort to find concrete scientific proof the percentages and the solution relative to addiction. Yes, I think this area must be studied, The statistics stray from the norm, such as the 80 or so percent of CHers that smoke or have smoked. Smoking is addictive and Is as hard to abstain as a heroin addict.
I thank you for posting this Todd. I definately know some of us are tempermental concerning alcohol, and other touchy issues as well. My first post was a question of CHs and addiction
percentages and recovering alkies. I sort of feel exonerated. But in reality, I appreciate your acknowledegment of this Issue. this need to be researched or investigated.
