Mine started at age 26 (13 years ago), about 3 years after I started working as an engineer (desk job). I though my problem was a lack of being outside in the elements. I have always craved being out in the sun. The open window near my desk seems to help (maybe it is just an attitude help since I have an ocean view). My episode have gradually gotten longer, with more frequent headaches, although nothing close to what some of you have. Every time I say this I'm hit with "I'm not alone any more".
As for working, mine use to always be in the evening so it was like going to work every day with a bad hangover. The real pain was in the evening. My wife thought I was up to something - how could I be in such pain every evening at the same time. Now they come during the day also. I run out to the car, drive to the beach, imitrex injection, moan, head back to work in an hour or two (or go home) once I can drive. I usually get a day or two breaks in an episode so I can get enough work done to satisfy my boss.
