Sandy:
Excuse my language, but this G.P. is a total jerk.
I'm a female who's has clusters for 35 years. I'm
51 years old now. My episodes last for 1 month
every 2 years.
I know you know this, but you need to see a
neurologist who's familiar with clusters immediately.
You're not getting the proper treatment! Clusters
between stress headaches and migraines? Give me a big,
huge break. That's a medically incorrect assessment (see Dr. Lee
Kudrow's book on Clusters) and a monumentally
insensitive thing to say. In the medical literature,
the pain of a migraine (which is already above the
pain of a stress headache is termed "severe").
The pain of a cluster is rated above that of a
migraine, and is termed "excruciating." This is
not "just" as reported as it feels by the patient;
it is also as it is described by the medical
community (and, again, in Dr. Kudrow's book).
Once you see a qualified neurologist, you'll have
a very good chance at getting some relief.
Best of luck,
Jackie
