1. Prednisone "count down" .. 10mg 4x/day for 4 days than 3x/day for 4 days,than 2x/day-4 days than 1x/day for 4 days.
2. Lidocaine 4% topical solution....a couple of drops in the nostril on affected side during attack or shadow really helps squash that pain at the bridge of the nose if you get it.
3.Imitrex injection during attack with oxygen at 10L per minute. So far,all have aborted completely within 10 minutes.
I've used Sansert in the past,but it is a preventative and doesn't help in aborting an attack once it starts. It is a little rough on the system and though has helped me,it leaves me a little "out of it" while I'm on it. When pain broke thru,I had to go to tylenol #4 tabs or hospital for the demerol "drop the pant" routine,both narcotics leave you groogy a good 1/2 day.
The Imitrex/oxygen combo has been super this round since it stops the attacks cold with no narcotic side effects.
