I can always tell when I'm still in a cluster episode.
During the day, I sometimes get tingly feelings
in my head. Sometimes I feel like I could get a
headache, even during the day, but don't. And I'm
generally sensitive to sunlight and, sometimes,
noise. Also, even with the prophylactic med, I
sometimes get mild to moderate "breakthrough"
clusters during the night. However, instead of
three horrendous headaches per night, I only get
one greatly reduced, totally bearable headache.
When all the symptoms disappear, I know the episode
is over. Also, in all my 35 years of the clusters,
the episodes have always lasted 1 month, almost
to the day.
Because the Prednisoe has been so effective, I get
off of it as soon as I'm sure the episode is over.
First, I don't want to be on any drugs, to the
extent possible, because of possible side effects.
Second, I want to minimize chances of developing
a tolerance for any drug.
