On AOL, just opening and reading your email does NOT save it to your computer's hard drive. Instead, it is saved on AOL's server. When you delete it from there, it's gone from your account. Makes no difference what computer you use to access it.
Don't know if there is anyway AOL might be able to restore it for you. For future reference, any mail you wish to save, you should store in your Personal Filing Cabinet. Check the AOL help for info on how to do this.
You might also consider emailing the people who sent you mail you wanted to keep to see if they still have a copy and can re-send to you.
