Some medications become less potent after expiration and some can give bad side effects. In particular,a during my last cycle some years ago,I awoke to blazing pain and took some (quite expired) tylenol #4 I had. It gave me a bad upset stomach and I was yold afterwords that codeine changes over time to a different and stomach aggravating medication. I'd heed the advice of the pharmacy (who is giving you the advice to protect himself from litigation I'm sure) and get new meds.
