good thinking / cool helps, 02 helps / both = better ?

real good thinking there !

but:
QUESTION -
trying to remember my physics here....
doesn't the 02 automatically cool, extremely, as it expands coming out of the tank ?
(remember freezing things with the CO2 extinguishers in the dorm ?)
Boyle's law and all that

cooled air "research":
about a year ago, read one med research study where they claimed a CH group experienced notable relief from attacks breathing air cooled to 40 F, equivalent to relief obtained from 02 inhalation
(but remember, "notable" can mean "we noted a 2% difference", which in my book = BFD )

this was before I found out about the o2 needing to be pure, hiflow approach

I immediately made an ice water air cooling chamber which was accomplished bumpkus - temp was product air was about 35

then I bought a length of 1/2" ID plastic tubing, and used to slide it in the freezer compartment, under the peas, carrots and freezer burned fish, into the deep dark freeziest part of the locker
shut the door on it and stuck it in the nostril on the attack side - finger plugged the other nostril & snorted away
this DID stop the pain in the immediate area of the sinus BUT not the rest of the affected area - so I ended up with frostbitten sinus (freezer is minus 10 F)and 3/4 of the attack left

as far as the chilled air vs 02 research goes -
1. 40 degrees is negligible in my experience, and sure doesn't pass for cold above the 45th !!!
2. it was NOT stated whether they compared it to 02 therapy as we now understand it, or the old light flow air mix that doesn't work, I suspect the latter

then I found the proper scrip for 02 and forgot all about the cold air theory EXCEPT that it still feels good to get outside in the dark in the winter

ennywhey -
chilled oxygen must be the ideal, BUT might be even more important to add moisture - the dehydration of bottled 02 can be a problem over time, because all that respiratory tissue needs to stay moist

so - gonna convert the old cold air experiment device to an oxygen hydrator for the next go-round

Tom Swift and his Electric Headplumber
(for you kiddies -
Tom Swift was what they ripped off to make the MacGyver TV series)
