I am a fellow sufferer and my bouts are 2 months long. I saw a neurologist yesterday and he prescribed 2 things I have had previously but separate. Verapamil did not help me as much and lost effectiveness in a few days. He stated most of us go to several doctors over time and never get to find what really works. He prescribed Sansert (old remedy) up to 4 times per day and Periactin. I have not needed the Periactin. He gave me Vicodin and stated most of us can't really benefit from Imitrex. He said you need about 40 mg to be effective. I am 44 and had these since I was 18 almost yearly until now. I too have seen them decrease. The Sansert made a tremendous difference and as long as you are not on it for 6 months and no heart disease problems you have no problems. It made me pretty woosy the first day but I noticed a real drop in the pressure you feel. He stated I have about 15 to 20 years left. As we age the vessels get harder and they don't expand like this so be proud if this is still happening when you are 65-70! You must still have good blood vessels left!
