Thank you to all who responded to my posting of
yesterday. It was very heartening and encouraging to
hear from so many concerned people. I have been
in a down mode lately. One reason being a 17-year
old son who may not live to see 18 at the rate he's
going. But that's another story. Right now Ken & I
are still waiting to receive the Ritalin script in the mail.
Just some comments to many who responded. Ken
has 2 very good neurologists. One is Dr. Alan
Rapoport at the New England Center for Headache
in Stamford, CT. He is the one to whom I sent Dr.
Mellick's posting and is sending us the Ritalin script.
The other is a doctor at the U Conn Medical Center
in Farmington, CT. Ken also has a very sympathetic
internist who allowed him too try Diflucan which, unfortun-ately, did not work for Ken. We also have an excellent medical plan that pays for just about everything. We have explored the surgical possibility as well. Dr. Rapoport referred us to a Dr. Ninan
T. Mathew in Houston, TX, who referred us to a Dr.
Hurt (great name, huh?) also of Houston who performs trigeminal radioablation. I know there is a woman who has written and speaks very highly of her
surgery, but the risks are high, and the success rate
somewhat less than thrilling. There is another surgeon in Hartford, CT, Dr. Poletti, who also performs
surgery, and we may go see him in order to appease
Dr. Rapoport. I think all these doctors are getting a
little sick of Ken; he's ruining their success ratio.
Sorry to be so long-winded. Thanks again to all
who responded.
Regards,
Cindy C.
