I've had good success with Amerge, but all I'm dealing with now is shadows and a few 5 or 6 level attacks. Verapamil seems to have eliminated the head-buster attacks for me. Sometimes I just don't want to deal with the shadows and low level attacks that hit every evening. Amerge eliminates the shadows and I've never had an attack within 6 hours of taking it. It takes about 1 hour to take effect, so I don't consider it as a viable abortive option and I don't know what it might do for severe attacks.
As usual, everyone seems to react differently, so I hope that it works even better for you.
