Well, last night was a first. For the first time, I
tried the Imitrex nasal spray. The headache still kept
getting worse, so I started inhaling my oxygen (7 liters).
After about 10 minutes, the headache was gone, and never
returned the rest of the night! Typically, the oxygen
might abort it, but it would keep coming back. I'm
thinking the combo is what did the trick, but I'm not
sure. I'm also on Prednisone (down to 1 pill).
Also, another question. Have any of you had a cluster
triggered by sunlight? Sunday, as I was walking out of
a movie theater in broad daylight, I got a cluster! I
panicked, because I almost never get these during the day,
so I had nothing with me. No oxygen, no Imitrex, no nada.
I jumped in my car and drove home with my hand pressing
on my head. By the time I got home (25 min.), the H/A
was going full bore. I tried oxygen and Imitrex spray, to
no avail. So I endured the terrible pain for 2 hours,
and then a bad, dull pain for the entire night. Looking
back on the whole event, I'm wondering if the sunlight
could have been a trigger--especially going from the
dark theater.
