Have you tried Imitrex or Maxalt? The main difference, I think, between the "triptan" type drugs and conventional painkillers is that they are designed to work faster (despite the fact they're not painkillers at all). Percocet has worked for me in the past, but it never took the pain completely away. If you haven't tried Imitrex or Maxalt, I would suggest you give them a try. They're great. As for the soft music strategy, I can see how that might actually work. Know what I do sometimes (this only works when it's a 7 or less, anything more than that and it just doesn't work for me). I imagine that I'm on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Each time I get a wave of pain, I "ride" it. I imagine that each wave of pain is bringing me closer to the beach, which to me represents the end of the headache. I know that the end is there somewhere, and that each wave of pain is only bringing me closer to it. Try this sometime. It really works for me. Hang in there. If you're anything like me, the first three weeks of a cluster are the worst. It's all downhill from here!
