Over the years, I have had bouts of high times and bouts of very very depressing times. There was a time in my life that I tried to commit suicide.....there was a time in my life when I had given up hope, and I felt guilty for doing so, because as a Christian, I was supposed to be strong. Then I started studying about some people in the Bible and this is what I found.
Elijah - After a mountain top experience, Elijah ran from Jezebel. In his sorrow, he slept(the first sign of depression, and then Prayed for death. He wanted to die.......
Wait a minute - He is a man of God! He was used mightily by God and is talked about many times throughout the Bible.
Paul - Had an eye disease that made him grotesque to look at and virtually blind. He prayed repeatedly that God would remove this "thorn in the flesh" and his answer from God was, "My grace is sufficient for thee". He then gave thanks for his infirmity because without it, he would become arrogant.
Moses - Suffered from low self esteem and was slow to speak. To the point that he often used a designated speaker on his behalf.
There are literally hundreds of men and women in the Bible that were plagued by pain and shortcommings, yet God used them. Will He not use me as well? Will He use you?
In His Service and Love,
