OM
You sound so much like me, its scary.
O2 works like imitrex, its an abortive. I find that
it only works when I catch the headache
early. It seems to work best when I get
awakened at night with one. You hit the O2 on
high flow (~7 liters/min). If its going to work, it
will go away in about 5-10 min. You tend to go
thru a lot of O2 this way, but its much cheaper
than the shots. O2 most times leaves me with a
shadow (kinda like hung-over), but usually I'm
still functional for work and life in general. Also,
I'v never had any problems with any side effects
and I've had times when I've been on it for an
hour straight trying to stay off an injection.
My neuro put me on Verapamil at the start of
my cylce. Its been about 3 weeks and I get a
h/a every 2-3 days, and always very light. It
may be effective if you start taking it at the
beginning, but I don't really know. Also, it
doesn't seem to have much in the way of side
effects.
Good luck, I hope you kick them soon.
