I get a set of "early warning" alerts, including eye twitch
also:
slightly swollen/puffy feeling in the orbital area, similar to that after a heavy weeping

most accurate: there is a small patch on the roof of my mouth, on the affected side, right where the upper jaw surface (lingual)arches into the roof, which swells up notably before and during an attack - I call it my mouth hemorroid

the twitch, or puffy feeling could be any number of things, but if I get the mouth swelling w/it - grab the oxygen !

re:
going places -
I try not to get "trapped anywhere"
this means sit near the door, take your own car (or get a ride that will let you delay as needed)

CH is so bad it helps to develop a set of responses that let you quietly ease in and out of public situations BEFORE you are clamped into the agony stage - and sometimes that means you just have to excuse yourself and get the hell out of there

good luck, and remember:
we DON'T owe people explanations for our comings & goings if we do it without disrupting what they're doing
the best way to not feel like we're the center of attention is not to put ourselves there to begin with
