First let me say that I do not feel biofeedback ( self hypnosis) is for everyone. I had to endure several months of pain without medication to learn how to stop the CH attacks and it wasn`t pleasant. At times when I would have two or three a night I would give in after the first one and take an Imitrex injection. It is however a method that you can learn with practice and control the pain in your life without meds.
Now to me.And this update some will remeber when I started this therapy a few months ago. I am going into my fourth week without a major cluster,pretty good for someone who has been chronic for over 10 years. I have had a few minor ones that I am able to stop almost immediatly. I am now concentrating on stopping the headach completely! I haven`t reached this plataue yet but I am working on it. I am to a point where I have a life and I am not afraid to do anything or go anywhere because I now have control of my monster. He no longer control me or the life that I lead. At dinner in a busy resturant the other night I felt one starting simply went into a trance stopped it,and went back to enjoying the dinner and my wifes company. My wife knew what I was doing but I can guarentee that no one else did. I simply closed my eyes for a few minutes and stopped the monster.
My biofeedback instructor feels that I will be able to stop them completely. but she says I am one of the few people that she has seen take pain control to this level. Maybe its` because I am an old hard head that does not want drug therapy in my life any more. I really want this to work and I work very hard at it.
