I suffer from both types of headaches. The cluster is much worse. But they are two very different pains.
The migraine is an actual headache. It is spread out across more of the head and it usually more an ache then a pain. Pain can reach the level of probably a 7 or 8 on Kip scale but it is very rare.
The severe cluster pain (I hate to call it a headache) on the otherhand is a severe incapactating pain that is at a pin point spot. It is a very sharp pain that usually is so severe that I have passed out from the pain.
I have not passed out due to a migraine yet. The clusters are much worse then the migraine in the form of pain. The migraine though have longer lasting effects on the way you feel when it is over.
But all this is a mute point now anyway for me since the clusters are chronic and I have not had a break from the cluster headaches long enough to feel a migraine. The pain on the cluster headache supercedes the pain of the migraine, so that I can not feel the migraines but they are still there waiting for the clusters to subside so that they can come back.
Oh well, that is my decription. Clusters feel worse, migraines affect you longer.
hope that helps
