The older I get, the more I realize that once someone makes up their mind, all the facts in the world probably won't change their thinking. If someone has an opposing view, I usually say:
1. Do you think?
2. Thanks for your advice.
3. That's certainly something to think about.
Then, we can both go on with believing what we will without the conflict. If I can, I check out what they say and try to be open minded. But trying to change someone's mind by debating is rarely useful . . . it depends on the individuals.
Now you can tell me, do you think, thanks for the advice, that's certainly something to think about.
And, I think it's a shame your doctor will prescribe the spray and not the shots. What's that all about? Is he afraid of needles?
Good luck with your mother inlaw. I'm sure she has your best interests at heart. Do you think?
