My left eye swells and usually by the time I realize it, it's too late. If someone notices it before and says something, then sometimes I can abort the thing before it hits.
The first inkling I have is when my head starts feeling tight (don't know how else to describe it), then the tears start out of the left eye (no control of that). But by the time the tears start, I'm usually at about 5.
After it's over, I'm totally drained. Never thought of it as a "high" but guess that's one way to describe it. I don't hurt, but couldn't move if you paid me. After about an hour of this, I "might" can lay down and sleep.
And yes, usually after the HA, my first thing to do is go to this board and see how bad someone else has it. What a way to live.... but it still beats the alternative!
